adonna
delle grazie
It is found outside the wall of the castle, nearby the
school building. The present church, remaking of the 1883, rises on the place
where once used to stand an old chapel up to the XV century.
It has one nave and two lateral chapels. The decorations are the work of the painter
Edoardo Righi (1898) from Modena. In
the rectangular apse stands out a valuable fresco (m. 1,60 x 1,50 in size)
representing the Madonna sat on the throne and holding up the Child. To her sides are portrayed S. Giovanni
Battista and S. Sosio. The painting, rather
spoilt by bad restoration, shows stylistic characters of the end XV century’s
Tuscan school.
